Welcome to Our New Part-Time Children's Ministry Director
Amal Aboelfarag (as of January 2, 2025)
My name is Amal. I have a true passion for working with the youngest learners. I come to First Presbyterian Church of Burbank with an extensive background in working with children in both school and church settings.
I served in Children’s Ministry in Egypt for 20 years, where I earned my BA in Accounting, I worked on staff with Campus Crusade (CRU) in Alexandria Egypt for 12 years, prior to moving to the United States.
I received a master teacher Credential for Child Development at Pasadena City College. I served on the staff of Lake Ave Church Preschool, as a teacher, until the school closed in March 2020. Prior to becoming a full-time preschool teacher, I served for 13 years at Lake Avenue Church in their Children’s Ministry, and I continued to volunteer with their Vacation Bible School programs. I’ve also volunteered at La Canada Presbyterian church in their Children's Ministry Program. I like attending workshops and gaining more education in Child Development. I served on the staff of Pasadena Christian School as a teacher since July 2021.
I’m happily married, since September of 1994, to Reverend Raafat Aboelfarag, who is a missionary among refugees in Los Angeles ( San Fernando Presbytery). We have one son, and his name is Raffy who is studying at Pasadena City College and continuing at Christian college next Semester and He ‘s a leader with young life organization.
When I’m not in a preschool classroom, I enjoy reading, walking in nature, and the beach. I watch movies with my family and I enjoy cooking. I love flowers. My favorite colors are red and green.
Working with children is my precious privilege and a blessing in my life.
“It is a great honor to work at First Presbyterian Church of Burbank.”
“Children are a gift from the Lord: they are a reward from Him” Psalm 127:3
