Church Update May 6th, 2020

Church Update Covid-19
Have you heard that saying, "No news is good news?" Well? The good news is that the church is still here. The church hasn't changed. It's the people of God that make up the church. It's not the building and for this we give thanks. Right now, it's a beautiful day and our prayer is that you're staying safe and cool. The real good news is that, we know that because of Christ and his unfailing love, we can endure anything and everything. We know that God's love is sufficient for us in the joys and struggles all of us face each day. The scriptures give us this comfort from 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, the Apostle Paul writes, "But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

As most of you know, our safer at home orders from our local and state leaders remain until at least May 15th. During these times, don't forget if you have a pastoral care need or simply need prayer, please don't hesitate calling our church office at 818-842-5103 to leave a message or emailing the church office at [email protected]

Wednesday Night Bible Study "Facebook Live"
As usual, you can visit our church Facebook page to watch and listen to Pastor Ross' Wednesday Night Bible Study at 7:00pm. Pull up a chair, with your favorite drink or desert, and come study God's Word. If you have questions during the Bible Study, please feel free to write them into the chat bar of the live session.

Canned Food Drive Blitz
Special thanks to all those who dropped off cans of food for North Valley Caring Services. It was a last minute initiative to assist in collecting some much needed cans of food due to the shortage of food that many of our food pantries are currently experiencing around the San Fernando Valley given what's happening around Covid-19.  The cans of food will be distributed to those who will visit the drive thru food pantry that North Valley Caring Services hosts every Thursday and Friday each week. If you know someone in need, have them call Pastor Manny Flores at (818) 891-0481.

Sunday Worship May 10th, 2020
Don't forget to join us for our online worship this Sunday morning at 10:00am on both Facebook Live and our church YouTube Channel. It's Mother's Day this coming Sunday. If you have a picture of your mom or that special parent in your life, please share that picture with us during the live stream on Facebook or simply write a note of thankfulness for that person in the chat section during the online worship service. We are in the process of making some upgrades to the technology we have in the sanctuary that will hopefully allow us to ensure there are no glitches with the live streaming of the worship service. Don't forget that you can always view the recorded worship service both on Facebook and YouTube later on in the day or that you can access the weekly sermons in the church app that you can find and download in both the ITunes and Google Play stores.

Coffee with the Pastors Via Zoom
We will continue having coffee with the pastors via ZOOM every Monday at 1:30pm. If you're interested in joining the conversation, please email the church office for the ZOOM invite at [email protected] It's a time for us to simply connect, share, and pray for each other as we're all going through many things, while dealing with the stay-at home orders from our local and state leaders during the Covid-19 crisis.

Thank you for your continued support of our mission here at Burbank Presbyterian Church. As we've shared often, you can mail in your financial support to the church office care of: Burbank Presbyterian Church, 521 E. Olive Ave. Burbank, CA 91501. Feel free to also give online through the church website at or in the church app that you can download in any of the app stores in  ITunes or the Google Play store.

When we know that we're free to gather again for public worship, we will make sure all of you know. Pastor Ross and our church leaders are in conversations on how to be prepared for that day and our prayer is that it will be soon. Until we are able, we will continue to have an online presence as a faith community. Just a reminder our children's and youth ministries are all online. Please visit both of these ministries on Facebook or contact our ministry staff. Contact Kathy Purdy, our Director of Children's Ministries or Katy Purdy our Youth Director for details.

Lord bless you all.
