Church Update April 28th, 2020

The Way
If you watched or listened to Pastor Ross' sermon this past Sunday morning, you heard a phrase he referred to from Acts 9:1-2. "Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. We know "the Way" was another term that referred to Christians or to those who followed Jesus and is something Jesus said of himself in John 14:6, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you have aligned yourself with Jesus and have given your life to Christ, guess what? You belong to the "the Way." What does it mean to be part of Jesus and his way today given everything that is happening around Covid-19?

If you belong to the Way, you know it means to be someone who believes that in times of uncertainty, that it is the light of Christ that shines down and shows us how to follow him. Our hearts right now grieve when we hear of more people losing their lives to Covid-19. We also grieve when we hear about the toll it's taken on all parts of our society. If you belong to the Way and follow Jesus, you know that the Jesus who conquered death on a cross at Easter, is the same Jesus that walks with us and carries our burdens with him in times of uncertainty. This same Jesus also gives comfort and rest for our souls as we see in Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Our prayer for you today is that you aren't losing hope and that you're  experiencing the comfort and light that Jesus gives to all of us as we follow him daily.

As many of you know, we will continue to have our 10:00am Sunday worship service streamed on both Facebook Live as well as our church YouTube channel. This Sunday, May 3rd is communion Sunday. Please have bread and juice with you during the online worship service. We also will continue to have our weekly Wednesday Night Bible Study with Pastor Ross streamed on Facebook Live every Wednesday night at 7:00pm. Although May 15th is a tentative date for local and state leaders to consider reopening our communities, we know nothing is definite yet for when we will resume public worship on Sunday mornings at either 9:15am or 11:15am.
