Church Update April 7th, 2020

Holy Week 2020
Dear Friends,

The Psalmist says in Psalm 71:3, "Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress."  In times like this, we are reminded that as God's people we can find refuge in God's Shalom (Peace) that gives us true comfort. Our prayer, as we speak, is that God will continue to be with those whose lives have been affected by what's happening with Covid-19 and that the world will find comfort knowing that God is present with us and God's love is available to all those who seek refuge in Jesus.

As a church community we will continue to abide by the safe at home mandates from our local and state leaders, knowing that once we are able to gather together in person for worship, it will truly be an Easter Worship Service. We all know that we are still united together in Christ, although we can't be together in person during Holy Week as well as Easter morning for worship. We will continue to keep the church campus closed until further notice. Visit our Facebook page for all church ministry updates, including for children and youth online or contact the church office directly at [email protected] If you need pastoral care this week don't hesitate to contact Pastor Ross or K.C. at any time. Contact them directly or leave a voice message at the church at 818.842.5103.

Wednesday Night Bible Study April 8th at 7:00pm. Join us for our mid-week Bible Study on Facebook Live. Thank you to all those who've watched and listened to Ross lead us in the study of God's Word over the last few weeks. Visit our church Facebook page to participate. If you miss the study, it will be posted on the church YouTube site after the Bible Study to view and listen to. (Here's last week's Bible study)

Just a reminder that our Maundy Thursday Online Worship and Communion Service will be on Facebook Live April 9th at 7:00pm. We will have scripture readings, a Maundy Thursday reflection, and prayer. We know communion will be a little different this year. We're asking everyone to have bread and juice ready for the moment we will share in the Lord's Supper together during the online service. Feel free to take a picture and share it with everyone during communion in the chat section of the service on the Facebook live stream. We hope you can join us. Don't forget you can share the live stream with your Facebook friends.

Our Good Friday Online Worship Service will be on April 10th at 7:00pm The service will include scripture readings, song, a reflection, and prayer. We will reflect on the meaning of Good Friday and the death of Jesus on the cross. It will also be on Facebook Live.

Join us from home online for our Easter Sunday Online Worship Service on April 12th at 10:00am This year's Easter Worship service will also be done a little differently as we gather together online to celebrate the Risen Lord and how Christ was victorious over death.  Join us as Pastor Ross brings us an Easter message of hope!  The service will be both on Facebook Live and YouTube at 10:00am.

We thank you for supporting our mission that God has called us to here in the City of Burbank. God's mission remains the same. We also believe in the hope that Christ has given us to trust and believe in God's faithfulness no matter what is happening in our world. We're asking everyone to be in prayer for this very important week in the life of the larger church.  Finally, we thank you for your continued support of our mission here at Burbank Presbyterian Church. Don't forget you can mail in your financial support to the church office care of: Burbank Presbyterian Church, 521 E. Olive Ave. Burbank, CA 91505. Feel free to also give online through the church website at or in the church app that you can download in any of the app stores (Itunes or Google Play).

Praying for you all,
